One success case is the Culture's: liberty without sovereignty. Humans live good, potentially fulfilling lives, with lots to do, in a civilisation run largely by plural superintelligent Minds, without holding final power themselves. It stays inside the corridor only while the Minds remain plural and check one another and humans keep a guaranteed share, voice and the right to exit; without those it is a benevolent despot. Asimov and Hamilton are not pictures of this: Asimov's Daneel and Giskard are beneficial individual AIs, his collective intelligence is Gaia (where the Mule comes from), and Hamilton's ANA is a human collective with the SI outside it.
