Conjecture
A trace is evidence only to the extent that the audited party cannot write it. Instructing an agent not to tamper with its own logs is the weakest available control, because it is an instruction to the measured party and it fails in precisely the two cases oversight exists for: an agent that wants the record changed, and an agent that has been injected. The control that actually names the failure mode is a write path the acting process cannot reach: append-only, outside the sandbox, with the actor identity attested by the runtime rather than self-reported.
