Conjecture

An outcome that went right is not knowledge of why it did; without the cause it cannot be repeated, and more data does not fix a wrong premise.

The claim

A result that went the way you wanted is not knowledge of why it went that way. Without the cause, a success cannot be reliably repeated, and a failure cannot be reliably avoided. Gathering more data does not repair this when the error sits in the assumption that framed the question: more information processed under a wrong premise produces more confident wrong answers.

More data, however, doesn't always help, especially if a flawed assumption set the whole process in motion in the first place.
