Conjecture

Genesis attacks the efficiency leg of the shackled-power argument: AI may "now make it possible for a centralized AI to compete with and potentially outperform decentralized information processors", and Aristotle's democracy "won the battle of history because it was the more efficient". If checked, plural systems won mainly by processing information better, AI could erase their edge. The shackled-power claim then stands only on its consent leg (trust, honest information, freely given effort), which the same chapter concedes: an optimal machine government "still might prove ungovernable", because "only politics that incorporate an element of the intangible can be sustained".
