Every value landscape has two related but distinct surfaces: the efficiency surface (value created for users, which sets where the attractor lies) and the capture surface (rents for producers, which sets where firms try to park). They do not coincide, but they are interdependent: capture is bounded by the value created, and the rents captured fund the search that moves the efficiency surface. Realised dominant designs sit between them, and the gap is where disruption and strategy live.
