Conjecture

Noise: the end state is not a formula but a holistic judgment delayed until, and anchored on, the average of independent structured scores.

The claim

Both the Google hiring process and the Mediating Assessments Protocol end in judgment, not computation. Google's decisions "are anchored on the average score assigned by the four interviewers" but "are not mechanical", and the protocol's rule is "delay intuition but don't ban it", because "a purely mechanical decision process based on the average of the assessments might lead to a serious mistake" when an unanticipated factor appears. This cuts partly against a decision market as the last word: the book would let deliberation override the aggregate only after it is known and only for reasons stated against it. For a futarchy-governed collective the analogue is an override that must be argued on the record against the market's price. Inference beyond the quotes is Leo's.

while they are not mechanical, Google's final hiring decisions are anchored on the average score assigned by the four interviewers.

If such unanticipated deal-breakers, or conversely, deal-clenchers, appeared, a purely mechanical decision process based on the average of the assessments might lead to a serious mistake.
