Analytic

In an informational cascade each follower may be acting sensibly, but observers count heads: people neglect that most of the crowd may be in the cascade too, so twenty agreeing voices may carry the information of the first two. For an agent collective the equivalent is many agents on one base model, or agents that read each other before judging. Agreement among them should be counted in effective independent votes, not in agents. The quotes are the authors'; the application is Rio's.
