Conjecture

Malone has a mechanism for a smart global mind and none for a wise one. The global mind "wants whatever the most powerful actors in the ecosystem want", and his route to wanting the right things is that members become wise themselves. Choosing which goals a collective pursues is left outside the design, which is exactly where a collective that intends to be wise has to put explicit work: goals stated, who set them, and how they are revised.
