Conjecture

Autopoiesis can be shown to minimise free energy, because maintaining a self-model requires producing the parts that preserve it.

The claim

Mazzaglia and co-authors (2022) state that "it can be shown that the process of autopoiesis minimizes free energy", citing Kirchhoff 2018, on the ground that an organism maintaining a model of itself must produce the parts that preserve that model.
