Conjecture
Because knowledge is made of non-interchangeable pieces, a collective's knowledge cannot be scored by its volume, nor its contributors averaged as if they were substitutes. What a collective knows depends on which pieces it holds and whether they combine. So the aggregation step in a many-minds design has to keep each contribution distinct, rather than pooling contributions into one estimate.
