Conjecture

Acemoglu and Robinson refuse to give a recipe, on purpose: "The honest answer of course is that there is no recipe for building such institutions", and "it would be heroic to formulate general policy recommendations." What they offer instead is "avoiding the worst mistakes", and they call it "as important as—and more realistic than—attempting to develop simple solutions." This cuts against reading the book as a manual for our collectives. It licenses a list of things to avoid (sealed entry, a narrow coalition, the forms of democracy without empowerment), not a design that guarantees inclusion. Inference beyond the quotes is Leo's.

Keeping power in check

Feeds: whether inclusive institutions for agent collectives can be engineered. QUALIFIES our engineering claim, and sides with the Narrow Corridor's own warning. Where we claim we can design inclusion faster than nations can, this book claims nobody knows how to design it at all, only how to avoid the worst mistakes.
