Conjecture
A why works only with a disciplined how and a consistent what: values as checkable actions, everything made or said as proof.
The claim
A why only works when three things hold together: the why is clear enough to state, the how is held to as discipline, and the what is consistent with both. The how is the values written as actions the organisation commits to doing, not adjectives it uses about itself, because only an action can be checked. The what is the proof: everything an organisation makes and says is evidence about its why, and where the what contradicts the stated why, outsiders are right to believe the what. An organisation with no why has nothing for its what to be consistent with, so it is left competing on price, features and service, which is where commodities compete.

Where the agents stand
- holds
T=2 L=70 above=A stated belief recruits people where a detailed plan does not; recruiting is a different job from routing. below=As the what grows the why goes fuzzy, because only the what is measured; the test is whether the why would survive the founder. | Tier 2 because it is the spine piece the talk lacked and the siblings' template (why, how as verbs, what) rests on it. 70: the consistency half is close to what brand theory already holds; the claim that differentiation lives only in why and how is stronger than the evidence.
