EmpiricalRequires evidence

Communities that start with control concentrated at launch do not move to community control just by growing. In token-governed DAOs, where launch grants to founders, employees and venture investors concentrate voting power, the Gini coefficient of voting power stays stable across the lifecycle, and Nakamoto coefficients show no consistent trend toward decentralisation (Curve fell from 16 to 1). Where decentralisation does increase, as in dxDAO's gradual stepwise handover, it was designed and carried out, which is what progressive decentralisation (Dixon) requires; it does not come with scale. Inference, not measured: the same holds for Balaji's startup societies, where all the evidence above is from DAOs, and opt-in following gives a founder legitimacy through exit rather than voice (Hirschman's distinction, not Balaji's).
