Conjecture
A networked constellation lives in a shared symbolic space that exists only while its members act in it as if it were real; digital connection moves the social constellation into that space and loosens its tie to physical place. Ansary, ch. 29: people interacting through devices were "in a dimension that existed only socially a communally imagined landscape created through human intercommunication"; "The symbolic universe exists only by virtue of us agreeing that it exists. We make it real by interacting in that universe as if it's real"; "Smartphones made the idea of physical location meaningless." That a knowledge base is a constellation in this sense only while contributors act on it, so stored rows nobody argues with or acts on are an archive rather than a shared model, is Leo's step.
