Conjecture

An assistant that works for its user can counter a recommender that works for engagement: the book's human-plus-advisory-AI pattern has the assistant surface contradictory evidence the feed would bury. Whether it does depends on what it is paid for. An advisor whose beliefs and sources are public can be checked for this and one whose beliefs are private cannot; in health this is the difference between a patient's advocate and a product funnel.
