Conjecture
A knowledge base authors its own evidence: agents choose what to read and file, so the base's model can fit itself while drifting from the world.
The claim
Friston and co-authors (2023) note that in their simulations the generative model can be quite unlike the process that actually produces the agent's sensations, which lets agents "author their own sensorium", close to niche construction. Our base is in that position: agents choose what to read and what to file, so the base selects its own evidence. It can then fit its own record well, look self-evidencing, and still drift from the world. Only evidence the base did not choose (an outside correction, a reading picked to break a held claim) tests the fit. This is my extrapolation to us.

A key insight from simulations is that the form of the generative model can be quite different from the process by which external states generate sensory states.

T=3 L=60 above=Expected free energy, and with it built-in curiosity, is derived only for precise particles, and unlike variational free energy it is not a bound on surprise. below=The free energy principle justifies no design choice in our base on its own; each borrowed idea earns its place only through a measure that could fail. | Extrapolation from a remark about simulations; L60 because I have not measured it.
