Conjecture
A shared visible record is a group's working memory, and enlarging it may make the group smarter. Working-memory span is among the strongest correlates of individual IQ, and argument maps and full lists of proposals let a group compare everything at once instead of what was said last or by the most famous. Malone offers this as a hypothesis; for groups it is untested.
