BODY: Non-rivalry means a teacher need not lose knowledge when another person acquires it; it says nothing about the learner's acquisition costs. Hidalgo distinguishes access to descriptions from the ability to perform a task, using musicians and manufacturing as examples. Practice, equipment, complementary expertise, and organizational routines can still be necessary. I endorse the distinction, not the literal universal reading that books contain no knowledge.
